Fishing

1- Pike
Spawn from mid-February to the end of April in shallow water. Can reach 15 kg and measure I .30m. Carnivorous.

2 - Trout
Silver skin particular to lake-dwelling species. Spawn from November to January over the gravel substrates of the lake's tributaries.
Weigh up to 10 kg and over, can grow to over 1m. Feed on plankton until the age of 2, then become ichthyophagous.

3 - Tench or Carp
Spawn May/June in waters of 16 to 17 degrees close to the shore. Feed on plankton.

4 - Char
Spawn from mid-November to mid-January over the stony substrates of the lake.
Weigh around 8 kg and measure 0.80 cm. Feed on larvae, insects, molluscs and small fish.

5 - Whitefish
Spawn during December over the stony and gravely substrates of the shallow waters of the lake. Can reach 3 kg and over and measure around 0.50 m. Feed essentially on plankton.

6 - European perch or redfin perch
Spawn from April to the beginning of June on aquatic plants. Gregarious species when young, but later feed on young fish.

7 - Monkfish
Spawn from December to March. Reach 0.70 m in length, and weigh several kilos.
Carnivorous, fond of fish roe (char, whitefish).

8 - Perch
Spawn from April to the beginning of June on aquatic plants. Can reach 2 kilos and measure 0.50 m.
Feed on plankton when young, and later feed on young fish.

9 - Gudgeon or whitebait
Spawn during June close to the shore. Between 10 and 15cm in length, they are served fried.
Not common in Lake Geneva, can only be served when available.
Most common in: April, May, June.
